Sail Malta Charters was not created as a marketing concept or a packaged experience. It grew naturally from time spent at sea, local knowledge, and a clear understanding of how Malta is best explored: slowly, by boat, and with respect for conditions.
The company was founded by Neal Bartolo, a Maltese sailor with deep familiarity with the island’s coastline, weather patterns, and anchorages. Growing up around the sea, sailing was never treated as a novelty but as a practical way of moving, observing, and understanding the islands.
From Local Sailing to a Clear Idea
Years on the water revealed a consistent pattern. Many visitors experienced Malta by rigid schedules and crowded routes, often missing the quieter bays, the right timing, or the simple comfort of being in the right place for the conditions of the day.
Sail Malta Charters was created to address that gap. The focus was never on volume, but on doing fewer trips well — choosing routes based on wind and sea state, adjusting plans when conditions change, and giving guests the space to actually enjoy being on the water.

Neal Bartolo
Hi,
I’m Neal, 37, and I’ve been boating all my life. From the age of four, I spent my weekends fishing with my father and sailing with my grandfather — experiences that shaped my lifelong connection to the sea.
I graduated as a chemist and spent 13 years working in the field, holding several managerial roles. This professional background has given me a strong focus on safety, organisation, and attention to detail.
Today, I combine my passion for boating with my professional experience by welcoming guests on board and sharing Malta’s stunning coastline, hidden bays, and crystal-clear lagoons. My goal is to create relaxed, safe, and truly memorable days at sea.
